Ian Ownbey Joins Branch

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Ian Ownbey is moving to New York City to join the Branch team!

For the past three years, Ian has worked as a backend engineer at Twitter, most recently serving as backend tech lead on their new Timeline Widgets. Ian joined Twitter in 2009 when the company was only 80 people strong, so he has learned first-hand how to scale a large internet platform and engineering culture. His insights and leadership will be an invaluable addition to our engineering team.

More importantly, our entire team is excited to call Ian a friend. When I left college to start Branch, it was as much for the opportunity to work with Hursh and Cemre as it was the idea itself. Similarly, Ian left college after his freshman year in order to learn from the folks at Twitter. What we share, among other things, is the belief that people matter most — that if you want to change the world you have to first surround yourself with remarkable, principled people. Ian is one of those people, and we’re excited to have him on board.

Our mission is to empower people to talk to each other about the the world around them, and we’re looking for senior engineers, iOS developers, and product designers to help Ian, and the rest of the Branch team, make that possible. Come join us.
